Size & Fit Guide

Because the right piece doesn’t just fit — it belongs.

Golden Atelier selects garments for their movement, silhouette, and presence.
To help yours feel truly personal, we recommend using measurements rather than guessing size based on habit.

Every piece may drape, stretch, or shape differently depending on fabric and silhouette — which is why each product includes its own sizing details.

Below is your complete guide to choosing the right fit.

How to Take Your Measurements

Use a soft measuring tape. Make sure it rests gently — not too tight, not too loose.

Measurement How to Measure
Bust Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape slightly relaxed.
Waist Measure at the narrowest point of your natural waistline.
Hips Stand straight and measure around the fullest part of your hips.
Shoulder Width Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the other, across the back.
Sleeve Length From the top of shoulder to wrist bone, arm relaxed.
Length (Dresses/Coats) From shoulder to hemline, depending on desired dress/coat length.

Tip: When in between sizes, choose the larger size if the fit is tailored or structured.
For soft, draped, or stretch fabrics, you may size down comfortably.

Clothing Size Chart (General Guide)

(Note: Always refer to the product’s individual size chart first — curated styles may vary slightly.)

Fabric & Fit Notes

Different fabrics behave differently. Here’s how:

Fabric Fit Behavior
Crepe, Linen, Linen-blend Holds shape, minimal stretch — choose true size
Satin, Silk, Chiffon Fluid, elegant drape — consider sizing up for flow
Velvet Soft but structured — choose true to size
Knit, Spandex-blend Flexible, stretch-friendly — size down only if between sizes
Tailored / Structured styles More fitted — sizing up can add comfort

When ordering gowns or fitted dresses, measuring your bust, waist, and hips accurately is key to silhouette perfection.

Shoe Size Guide

European sizing is most common for our curated heels, flats, and boots.
Use this chart to convert your size.

US EU UK Foot Length (cm)
5 35 3 22.0
6 36 4 23.0
7 37 5 23.5
8 38 6 24.5
9 39 7 25.0
10 40 8 25.5
11 41 9 26.5

For pointed heels or slim-fit shoes, sizing up is often more comfortable.

Final Note

Some garments are made to hug. Some are made to flow.
The beauty lies in knowing which one belongs to you.

📏 How to Measure Yourself

A garment fits when it follows numbers.
It belongs when it follows your movement.

Use a soft measuring tape. Stand naturally — not stiff, not posed.
Measure gently — not pulled tight, not hanging loose.
Here's how each measurement should feel:

1. Bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, straight across the back, gently resting — not squeezing.
Stand relaxed, arms down, shoulders loose.
This determines how the garment shapes your upper silhouette.

2. Waist

Find the narrowest part of your torso — usually just above the belly button.
Wrap the tape softly. You should be able to slide two fingers under it.
This measurement helps with dresses, skirts, and any hourglass-shaped piece.

3. Hips

Stand with feet slightly apart.
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and mid-seat (around the bottom).
This is key for fitted dresses and sculpted silhouettes.

 4. Shoulder Width

Measure from the edge of one shoulder bone to the other, across the top of your back — not across the front.
This ensures balance in coats, blazers, and structured dresses.

5. Sleeve Length

Place the tape on the top edge of the shoulder bone.
Run it down along your arm, past the elbow, to the wrist bone.
This matters for coats, blazers, and full-sleeve garments.

6. Dress / Garment Length

Measure from the top of the shoulder (side of neck) down to where you’d like the garment to end —
knee, mid-calf, ankle, or floor length.

Tips for Better Measuring

✔ Use fabric or tailor’s tape — metal tapes won’t curve accurately.
✔ Stand relaxed — posture affects length and width.
✔ Measure twice — if both match, it’s most likely correct.
✔ When in between sizes, choose the larger — especially for tailored pieces.

Remember: Some garments are made to hug; others are made to flow.
The right measurement helps you know which one belongs to you.

🪞 How It Drapes — Fit, Feel & Movement Guide

A garment fits when it follows your size.
It belongs when it follows your movement.

Different fabrics and silhouettes behave differently when worn.
Some sculpt. Some soften. Some flow. Some hold.

Understanding how a piece drapes helps you know not just which size to buy —
But how will it feel when it moves with you.

Fit Styles We Curate

Fit Type How It Behaves When It Works Best
Tailored Fit Structured, sharp, body-defining Workwear, formal dinners, coats, fitted gowns
Sculpted Fit Defines waist & shape, without clinging Wedding guest, evening wear, cocktail dresses
Relaxed Elegance Slight ease, graceful movement Day-to-dinner looks, travel, layering outfits
Soft Drape (Fluid Fit) Flows with motion, soft silhouette Romance, events, photographs, minimal glam
Stretch-Form Fit Moves with body, comfortable hold Bodycon dresses, knit pieces, sculpting outfits

Tip:
If a piece is structured, choose exact size for clean shape.
If the fabric is draped or flowing, sizing up can add elegance.

Fabric Behaviour — How Your Garment Will Move

Fabric Type Feel & Movement Visual Character
Satin / Silk Fluid, graceful, elegant in motion Reflective, smooth, gently shaped
Velvet Luxurious, sculpted, soft but structured Matte elegance, figure framing
Crepe Lightweight, refined, hangs beautifully Elegant, minimally textured
Chiffon Softly flowing, sheer, romantic Light, layered, feminine
Knit / Spandex-blend Stretch-friendly, sculpting, comfortable Flexible, body-following
Linen / Linen-blend Breathable, lightly structured Naturally matte, airy, textured
Scuba / Ponte Holds structure, shapes silhouette Modern, tailored, smooth

Satin and chiffon float.
Knit and spandex follow.
Crepe and linen compose.
Velvet and tailored blends sculpt.

Choosing Your Fit Intentionally

If You Want… Try These Silhouettes
Effortless movement A-line, flowy gowns, wrap dresses
Clean sophistication Tailored coats, midi structured dresses
Figure definition (not tight) Sculpted waist, mermaid, panel dresses
Subtle glamour Velvet drape, satin bias-cut, pearl accents
Multi-occasion styling Wrap, midi, draped silhouette dresses
Photogenic elegance Satin, chiffon, velvet, crepe with flow

The goal is not to fit into a trend.
The goal is to find what belongs in your wardrobe.

When to Size Up (for elegance)

Choose one size up if the garment is:
✔ Satin, silk, chiffon, velvet, or flowy
✔ Designed to drape, not cling
✔ Tailored but not stretchable
✔ Intended for formal, wedding, or evening elegance

When to Stay True to Size

Perfect true-to-size when:
✔ Fabric has stretch or knit elasticity
✔ Cut is structured to fit the body cleanly
✔ Dress has waist-shaping seams or darting
✔ It's meant for workwear, blazer-fit, or body definition

Final Fit Thought

Not every garment is meant to trace the body.
Some are meant to create space, softness, and presence.

The right fit doesn’t just shape your body —
It supports how you move through the moment.
